1. Perfume concentration


Perfume is usually made from oils dissolved in a solvent (usually spirit). The higher the concentration of oils, the lower the concentration of alcohol, and the smell of the perfume is stronger. Perfume concentration is usually indicated by special abbreviations (in French):



2. EDT or EDP?

EDP (Eau de Parfum or perfumed water) — lasts longer on the skin, because the perfume contains contains less alcohol and is less irritating/drying to the skin. Perfumed water is more suitable for occasions, dates and situations where it is important that the aroma remains as long as possible.

EDT (Eau de Toilette or toilet water) is usually a cheaper and more popular version of perfume. Since the perfume concentration is lower, the aroma lasts for a shorter time than in the case of perfumed water. Eau de toilette is best suited for everyday use.


3. Perfume notes

Since all perfumes are created according to strict rules, their aroma (which consists of notes) is divided into three stages:</span >

Top notes: the opening aroma of the perfume (also called the first accord) which is felt until 8- 15 minutes.

Heart notes: the main elements of the fragrance that are felt immediately after the top notes have unfolded. They are usually felt 30 minutes after spraying.

Base notes: unfolds last and "adjusts" to your skin. The base notes are called the culmination of the fragrance because they last the longest. The aroma begins to emerge after 30-40 minutes. and can be felt for up to 24 hours.

The traditional proportion is 30% top note, 50% heart and 20% base note aroma oils, but the distribution of the notes still varies and different — this is how lighter or heavier aromas are created.

4. Perfumes according to the nature of the smell.
The main 4 perfume groups are: floral, oriental, woody and fresh (fresh) perfume aroma. In order to meet customer expectations, fragrances are often interwoven with each other, resulting in more interwoven scents. Below you can see what perfumes can be. Most of the time, fresh perfumes are in azure, blue bottles. Floral - transparent, yellow, orange. Oriental - red, purple, black. Wood - green, brown.
Citrus scents 
These essential oils are derived from fruits such as lemons, bergamots, oranges, grapefruits, etc. - barks. Citrus aromas are divided into floral, chypre, spicy, woody, aromatic scents.

Flower scents This type of perfume includes flowers - roses, jasmines, violets, lilacs, marigolds, daffodils, etc. aromas. Sometimes the scent of one type of flower dominates (for example, lavender), sometimes a bouquet of flowers spreads, and you can also feel the scent of trees and fruits.
Scents of ferns 
These aromas have nothing to do with the actual smell of ferns. Lavender, wood, oak lichen, coumarin, bergamot and other scents prevail. You can also feel a whiff of amber, flowers, and spices. Most often, such aromas are prescribed for men.
